Drawings and Sketches
Rachel's working on a series of pen and inks based off of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". Here's her first piece in that series.
Here's one of Rachel's studies. She's working on a series of dragon sketches, trying to come up with some new characters….
Here's another of Rachel's sketches. She's working on a story that involves immortal samurai….
Monster Racers
This is a random series of drawings that I did last week…I was thinking about Mario Kart and monsters…so I put the two of them together. I took a couple of classic monsters and made vehicles for them to drive in a mario kart type race….Here's Frankenstein's monster in his electric car...
.Here's a Hunchback driving a bell that uses sound to float like a hovercraft. All his little gargoyles spit fire, tar, puke, and other road hazards.
Here's a merman...
Here's a mummified crazy cat lady...
Here's a Vampire Jet...
Here's a zombie dozer...

2014 Art Show Schedule
We're working on our art show schedule for 2014.
Here are some of the first couple of shows we'll be participating in this spring.
March 8 | Captains Comics Expo in Charleston, SC
April 11 - 13 | Marble City Comic Con in Knoxville, TN
May 17-19 | X-Con in Myrtle Beach, SC
There are some other tentative dates between those events, but these are the ones that are currently set in stone. More updates to come in February. We've got 12 art show commitments for 2014. Once they get closer, we will post the rest of our schedule.
New Years Sketches
Soooo….my wife and I have had a slight set back in the productivity of our Pretty Weird Art Business. I just got home this week to find that the water pipes in our house had burst. Our studio flooded and all of the comic book pages that I've been working on for the last couple of months are floating on top of an inch of water….Seeing the inked pages of my comic float by is kinda…sad…Other than that mishap, Pretty Weird has been "Off the Grid" for the Holidays. We're about to restart our weekly art uploads. Rachel's been busy working on "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" artwork and I've been busy working on the inks for the second issue of Skull Gun Bunny. Here are a couple of drawings that escaped our recent flood...
Over the holidays I was drawing the old kenner action figures for the Aliens movies…but most of those are water damaged beyond recognition. I did have one that survived. It's a pretty cool action figure named Atax. It's a colonial marine in a robotic alien suit.
Today on my lunch break I decided to sketch out Professor X vs. Magneto...
I'm finally getting the time to color my ninja turtle sketches from work…hoping to get these done by con season.

NC Comic Con Aftermath
Well, the 2013 NC Comic Con has come and gone. A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our table to chat and to those of you who purchased our comics and artwork. We had a great time visiting the city of Durham for the first time ever. We were amazed at the number of people that attended the show. Can't wait until the next time we visit North Carolina.
Rachel and I ate the most amazing Chicken and Waffles after Saturday's show. I decided to take a picture of the happy wife enjoying her meal, when I suddenly realized that right behind her were Geoff Darrow and Frank Cho sitting at the bar.
We had a little laugh about being so close to artistic greatness. I talked with Geoff at the show earlier in the day, but I got the impression he was in a bit of a grumpy mood, so I decided not to accost him at the bar. By the way, the chicken and waffles were the best meal ever.
We were set up next to artist Doug Cowan! I've loved his artwork for a while without knowing who he was. He was really fun to talk to and he kindly traded a print of Wicket for a drawing of a Gijoe Laser Viper.
He inspired me to do my own ewok drawing.
We also set up next to author Pab Sungenis, who kept himself busy during the con by drawing "The World's Crapiest Drawings". He kept me and Rachel entertained throughout the entire weekend.

Cola Con Interview
Rachel and I got a chance to talk to Belvin Olasov from the USC Daily Gamecock while we were participating at last week's Cola Con. I'm glad Belvin used Rachel's quote about the Con. A lot of the artist's were disappointed about low turnout over the weekend, but Rachel pointed out that we all might have had some unrealistic expectations about a very young event. After talking with some local comic shop owners today, I think there's a general idea of how to get more crowds at next year's Cola Con. Here's to hoping that Cola Con 2014 is a smashing success. For our part in Cola Con 2013, Pretty Weird Art had a blast. We plan on participating again next year.

Cola Con 2013
We had a great time at Cola Con! A big thank you to everyone who bought comics, prints, and original artwork from us. The con was small, but we met a lot of awesome people. Our table mate Sam Spina took this photo of our table for us...We bought one of his books and read it this afternoon. Fun Stuff. More pics of artwork from the con to come.
Check out our Pretty Weird Art Page to see some sketches from the Con: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Pretty-Weird-Art/120074491366900
I'd like to pimp out our Cola Con table mate, Sam Spina. Here's the copy of Sam Spina's book that we got from the con. You should check his work out. He just relocated to the Atlanta area and swung by Cola Con to check out Columbia's comic scene.
