Colored Pattern Monster

I've wanted to color my pattern monsters for years but never had the time to color them.
I took some time this evening to color this little guy.
I like how he came up. Now it's time to create a name and back story for him.

Pattern Monster Portraits

Ethan, circa 2020

Bird, circa 2020

Tonight we finished pattern monster self portraits! This was a fun project.
I hope to add more color to some of the other pattern monsters from the last
month as well.

Digital Sketchbooks are up!

We've gone through the Pretty Weird Archives and compiled 5 digital sketchbook collections of artwork that is inspired by our love of comics, toys, metal music, and horror movies.

For only $5 you can own a digital collection of 40 - 50 pieces of our pretty weird artwork!

Pattern Monsters added to our Store!

We've posted 20 - 30 of Ethan's pattern monster drawings from the summer to our online store.
If you would like to adopt one of these little guys as your own, check out the online store and pick one out!

Pattern Monster Self Portrait

We're experimenting with coloring Ethan's pattern monsters this weekend.
Here's his self portrait in full color.

Pattern Monster Coloring Book

I've been making pattern monsters after work as a way to detox from workplace stress.
I've put together 40 or 50 of them in a black and white coloring book.
I'm doing a little 40 copy print run and plan to put 20 up for sale on our website and then use the other 20 for Christmas presents for our family members this year.

I'll let everyone know once they've been added to the store if you'd like to grab a copy.

Comic Creations Comic Book Cover

Here's a recent collaboration between the two of us. Bird drew this as a cover to a comic collection
of student artwork from the Columbia Museum of Art classes she taught earlier in the year.
Ethan scanned the drawing and colored it in Photoshop.

GIJOE Eco Warriors Poster

When I was a kid, GIJOE meant neon colors! I have fond memories of my dad buying me GIJOES from the Eco Warriors toy line. I channeled those memories recently and drew all the eco warrior figures as mutated versions of themselves. I drew each separately on 8x11 card stock paper, then fused them together into a larger 18x24 poster. Each weekend I've done a little bit of work on the poster. It took about a month to finish the coloring.
